Sol-Space has been founded by Ashley West and Stephen Buckeridge to create a space for serious abstract painting. Given the diversity within painting today, the aim is to provide a particular focus and identity. What we try to engage in ourselves, and are looking for in other artists, is a personal and highly reflective exploration of both the medium of painting and the language of abstraction - and a search for integrity. We are also interested in this process being evident in the work itself – in the layering, revision and so on, although one cannot be too definitive about this.
